Rob Holt is a survivor. From growing up in children's homes and institutions in South Africa, conscripted into the South African military, to immigrating to Australia and being involved with large corporate organisations to becoming homeless and an alcoholic, Rob has a personal story of resilience and overcoming untold challenges, to share in Off These Streets.
With a passion to end homelessness in Australia, Rob aims to encourage community involvement by creating a platform for connection and engagement between those seeking to make a difference, and those experiencing social isolation.
"Rob Holt’s voice does not come to you from the university down, but from the gutter up. Many of our familiar charities began when someone with passion and purpose but no marketing budget, decided that the immovable could be moved. Rob Holt doesn’t want your money but your heart to imagine a city, a country and a world where no-one is left to sleep in the open streets." Pastor Graham Long AM

Social Justice Program
The Social Justice Program is designed around Rob’s story by offering participants an opportunity to walk with someone who has faced unbelievable challenges throughout his life and found resilience through connection and engagement. Off These Streets provides a social justice program targeted towards high school, TAFE, and university students completing their CAFS Community And Family Services studies, including psychological studies. Social and community groups are encouraged to make bookings.
All programs have the option to be delivered remotely, using video-conference tools and equipment streamed live to your learning place or study group.
Corporate Volunteering Programs
Rob hosts corporate volunteering programs for businesses, organisations, and community groups, seeking alternative volunteering options.
Volunteering programs offered in the Kings Cross area include an option for groups to add Rob’s Tour into their experience.
DUE TO THE COVID RESTRICTIONS OFF THESE STREETS HAS SUSPENDED A NUMBER OF THE CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMS ON OFFER. CONTACT ROB TO DISCUSS POSSIBLE VOLUNTEERING OPTIONS.
Rob's Tours is a walk of gratitude and the realization that all people are vulnerable to, homelessness, and mental health issues. Through meeting the community, and seeing Rob's life first hand, participants also realise that action and compassion are the first steps for us to build the change that society needs.
The iconic Wayside Chapel, where Rob became the community educator years later, is one of the highlights along the tour. Meet Rob's peers and friends in the community as the tour weaves through the streets of Kings Cross. The stories of people and the local area are shared during the tour, and participants report feeling inspired and motivated to join the movement for change.
Rob has created personal stories and public speaking topics to inspire and motivate connection and engagement between those seeking to make a difference, and those experiencing social isolation. Having experienced homelessness during COVID 19 2020 and living in motel rooms for a period of time due to mandatory isolation, he brings to life a world that is unknown and out of reach to many by sharing his personal experiences of homelessness and his battle with mental health issues. Rob has shared his stories with thousands of people at fundraising events, on national television, in video blogs, in national newspapers, and in magazines.
